Why we built this

You saved it for a reason. Then it vanished.

A thread in your bookmarks. A PDF in Downloads. A screenshot in your camera roll. A talk buried in Watch Later. Each one mattered when you saved it, and none of them talk to each other.

Commonplace gathers them into one quiet library and reads every one, so the thing you half-remember is always a search away.

How it works

From scattered saves toa memory you can search

01

Capture without thinking

Right-click any page, link, image or selection. Connect GitHub stars, X bookmarks and YouTube playlists. Drop in PDFs and screenshots.

02

Understand every word

Commonplace reads what you keep: article text, PDF pages (scanned ones too), transcripts, and the words inside images. Then it tags and files them.

03

Recall the way you remember

Search with a phrase, a feeling, a photo or your voice. Or ask a question and get an answer that cites the exact page or moment.

FAQ

Questions,answered

What can I save?

Web pages, links, highlighted text, images, screenshots, PDFs up to 25 MB, and Markdown notes. You can also bring in GitHub stars, X bookmarks and YouTube playlists. Instagram posts come in through the browser extension or a screenshot.

How is this different from bookmarks?

Bookmarks remember where something was. Commonplace remembers what it said. It reads every save, so you can find a thing by an idea, a half-remembered line, or a picture, even if you never tagged it.

Who can see my library?

Only you. Libraries are private by default and access is checked in the database itself. If you share a collection, the person you choose gets read-only access, and you can revoke it.

Can I leave and take everything with me?

Yes. One click exports every original file with its notes, tags and metadata as a ZIP.
